Medicare Advantage, also known as Part C, is a federally subsidized health insurance plan that acts as an alternative to Original Medicare. It combines your Part A (Hospital), your Part B (Medical) and in most cases your Part D (Prescription Drug Plan).
Typically, Medicare Advantage plans are $0 premium plans, meaning you will still have to pay for your Part B monthly premium, but being on an Advantage plan usually does not have a monthly premium. Instead, you can expect to pay co-pays, co-insurance, cost-share and you will be subject to staying within your network. You can also expect to encounter prior authorizations and need referrals in order to see specialists.
Not every plan is a $0 premium plan, as it will depend on your specific location. There are HMO plans, PPO plans, PFFS plans, and SNP plans available is almost every county.
Advantage plans typically come with additional benefits, such as Dental, Vision and Hearing coverage and in some cases Over-The-Counter benefits and gym memberships.
By working with a trusted and knowledgeable Medicare broker, you can rest assured that together we will find the plans that fits your needs and budget. It is important to take the time to ensure your preferred doctors are in network as well as be sure your prescriptions are included on the plans formulary.
